Hey Eve,

There’s been a lot of talk in our Sunday sessions about gratefulness, and I don’t think I’m normally that good at expressing it, but I want to try.

Sorry if this is weird. I don’t think I would be able to say it in person or over text.

For my whole life I’ve never felt like anyone wanted me. I was too shy to have any friends in primary school, not hot enough to matter in high school, and I don’t think a single crush I’ve had has even known my name. Even the friends I did have, it felt like they just kept me around.

When I started going to the classes, it made my life a lot better, but it was meeting you that really changed things. You singled me out. You believed in me. You made sure I stuck to it, even when I wanted to give up.

You convinced me to ask out Adam – I never would have done that in a million years without you. I know he’s not perfect, but it’s because of you that he’s mine. I told high school where to shove it – the old Amy never would have done that.

The night I thought Adam and I had broken up, you came to my dorm, gave me a giant hug and stayed up all night with me to make sure I was going to be okay. You dropped everything just to take my mind off how awful the world was.

That night you saved my life.

I wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for how supportive, and incredible, and loving you are. You’re the kindest, most loveliest person I’ve ever met, and the closest thing I’ve ever had to a real sister. I love you.

I know this is a bit full on, so it’s okay if you don’t respond, but I wanted you to hear that.

Oh my god, Amy. This is one of the most kind, thoughtful things anyone has ever done for me. This is so incredible of you.

You are so so SO special, and you should never, ever, EVER feel like your voice shouldn’t be heard. Lots of people want you, and there’s so many more who are going to.

I had no idea just how important that night was, and I’m glad I was able to be there for you. I know you know this, but do not ever hesitate to text or call me if you find yourself wrestling with those thoughts. I would spend 1000 sleepless nights by your side if it made things even a little better.

You are going to go on to do so many great things, and it makes my world that you’re still with us. It’s an absolute privilege to call you my friend, and I couldn’t be more proud of you.

You are seriously so amazing Eve. Being able to count on someone like I can you is something I feel so incredibly grateful for.

I can’t until I’m actually out of school and we’re able to work together properly. It feels like forever away.

I know this makes me sound old, but some day a year is going to feel like a very short time haha.

Just try and enjoy school while it lasts. I can see if there’s anything I can do about getting you involved with some regular afterschool work, but I’m not 100% sure.
